Author Rita Akoto Coker Shares Romantic Escapades of Her Great Grandmother in Fiction

Posted in: , ,

My guest author, Rita Akoto Coker started writing in 1980 in Toledo, Ohio where her husband was pursuing his Masters degree in Engineering. She had not started work after graduation from college was bored sitting at home and watching soap operas.

Since then, Rita Coker has written three romance books with a fourth, which is the last part of a trilogy still being reviewed by the publishers. She ascribes her inspiration to her great grandmother who was the Queen in their home town who regaled her family with romantic escapades of the royal court when they were growing up. It still brings back memories. Rita also desires to educate readers about African history and the way our ancestors used to live before European colonization.

Olufunmilola Olubunmi Adeniran, aka funpen on Naijastories, is the author of 'The Penguin Close Bully' one of the stories on 'Our Ram is Haram' from NS publishing. She now writes under the pen name Feyi Aina, and recently placed some romance titles on Okada books.

Fed up with her, her father forces Jaiye into an arranged marriage with a mechanic in order to teach her a lesson. Initially angry, in time, Jaiye begins to discover that her new husband is much more than just a mechanic, and their marriage more than just a sham.

You Can Judge a Book By Its Cover and You Should! By Guest Author Jola Naibi

Posted in: , ,

A book is a dream you hold in your hand
Neil Gaiman

The book cover is the first thing that the reading audience sees. It is their first introduction to the author’s oeuvre. It presents a snapshot of what to expect in the book without giving too much away. If you are a new and emerging author, you want a solid introduction to your potential readers and one way to do that is with an outstanding book cover.

Book Excerpt - The Break Up Recipe by Munir Bello

Posted in: , ,

Amy Jacobs is the office hottie. A cute little blonde twenty something who is very friendly and quite frankly incredibly bangable. When we started working together the guys at the office took bets to see who could get her into bed. I’d like to state to the jury that I abstained from this exercise as I didn’t quite agree with objectifying a work colleague. Try as he might, Tate did any and everything he could to win this challenge. He would run out and get her lunch or offer to go for drinks with her after work. Nothing ever came of it. What made it even sweeter was that I was always within hearing distance when he got rejected. It meant he could never make up a story about giving her the brush off.

Book Excerpt - When You Let Go By Unoma Nwankwor

Posted in: , , ,

This was working out better than I thought. Amara had been gone for a little over half an hour. She had tried calling Ejike before she left but couldn’t get to him. Chinelo smiled because that meant Ejike had no idea that he’d be coming home to her.

As soon as Amara left the house, Chinelo took a quick shower and put on her blue jean mini skirt and a sheer white blouse. Despite the black tank top underneath, it still had the effect she was going for.
Moments later, she could hear the garage door opening. That must be Ejike. Amara couldn’t have made it back so soon.

I do not have TVC at home, and it was friends that called or wrote to tell me they saw me on AfricArts, a TVC programme that promotes all things Art. Posted in: , ,

Kate Henshaw is from Cross River State, and to further promote her recently launched book [see pictures], Kate visited with the first Lady, Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke and had a small book presentation. A friend was wondering if Kate Henshaw wrote the book with the help of a ghost writer, but I later got to find out that it is a pictorial book, made up of mostly photos from Kate's life as an actress through the years. Congrats again to her.
